Travel is about experiences and scheduling your visit around great food happenings in Galveston is a bonus.

The year 2016 begins with a bang in Galveston for foodies with Galveston Restaurant Week spanning over two weeks from Saturday, Jan. 9 to Saturday Jan. 23. This year, 33 restaurants are offering prix fixe lunch and/or dinner menus at price points ranging from $10 to $40, depending on the restaurant. For example, you can enjoy soup and choice of a flat bread pizza, hot panini or signature salad at Tremont Café for a mere $15 or splurge on a three-course dinner at Galvez Bar & Grill for $35 featuring Market Fish Special.

Also, in January enjoy Yaga’s Chili Quest and Beer Fest on Friday, Jan. 15 and Saturday, Jan. 16. If you are a runner or even if you are not, consider their Triple Combo Ticket for $65 which includes your registration fee for the Beerfooter 5K, plus chili and beer tasting. The festival includes chili sampling, the opportunity to sample 100 craft and import beers, a washer pitching tournament, margarita contest and live music. This is the augural year for wine week which offers wine tastings and events beginning on Monday, April 11 through Thursday, April 14 and leading into the Premium Wine Tasting and Pairing on Friday, April 15 and the Grand Tasting on Saturday, April 16. This year, the Grand Tasting offers a sampling of more than 100 wines and local restaurant offerings and includes a cooking demonstration by Celebrity Chef Robert Irvine. On Sunday, Hotel Galvez is offering an expanded Sunday Brunch menu featuring items prepared by Executive Chef Lance Fegen of Houston’s Liberty Kitchen & Oyster Bar. Fans of Chef Irvine can see Robert Irvine LIVE at The Grand 1894 Opera House that afternoon. For more details on the weekend, visit http://www.galvestonfoodandwinefestival.com/

Hotel Galvez is offering a Food & Wine Weekend Package with a two-night stay (Saturday and Sunday nights), two tickets to the Grand Tasting, two tickets to Robert Irvine LIVE, Sunday Brunch for two at the hotel, valet parking and breakfast for two on Monday.
