This year, Hotel Galvez and The Tremont House had a friendly competition between the culinary staff for creating the best gingerbread replica of their hotel. A special holiday cocktail menu is featured at both The Tremont House' 1888 Toujouse Bar and the Galvez Bar and Grill. Favorites include the Peppermint Bark Martini, Cranberry White Wine Spritzer, 75 Poinsettias and others. Both bars offer live jazz every Friday and Saturday evening. A tasty cocktail is a great way to unwind after a long day of holiday shopping downtown.

Santa Claus makes an appearance at Hotel Galvez' Sunday Brunch every Sunday following Thanksgiving and before Christmas. Santa is available for photos and has a small gift for all the kids even the naughty ones. Brunch is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and advance reservations are recommended. Dec. 13 and Dec. 20 - Holiday Sing-along at The Tremont's Toujouse Bar
As part of a mini-revival to an old tradition at the hotel, The Tremont House's Duo du Jour will lead guests in a holiday sing-along from 7 to 10 p.m. As a bonus, enjoy specials on holiday drinks and complimentary hors d'oeuvres. This is definitely a way to get in the holiday spirit.
Dec. 25 - Christmas Day Brunch at Hotel Galvez
Hotel Galvez is widely known for its Sunday Brunch and the hotel brunch on Christmas Day is a family tradition for many locals and visitors. The hotel features all the traditional entrees along with special offerings created by the executive chef. Dec. 31 - New Year's Eve Dinner at Galvez Bar and Grill
If you are looking for a low key, romantic dinner this New Year's Eve, Galvez Bar and Grill is offering a special menu in addition to its regular offerings. The restaurant is offering a four-course meal for $75 per person. Entrée options include Slow Roasted Pork Belly, Pan Seared Halibut and Braised Bone-In Wagyu Shortrib. Dec. 31 - New Year's Eve Entertainment
Ring in 2019 with live jazz. To commemorate New Year's Eve, Hotel Galvez's Jazz Duo Reg and Cary perform from 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at Galvez Bar & Grill. And, if you are a guest at The Tremont House, enjoy Trio du Jour from 7:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Both hotels offer a champagne toast at midnight.

Moody Gardens Festival of Lights, Open Daily through Jan. 6, 6 to 10 p.m., Wander through more than a million holiday lights while enjoying holiday music during this annual event. And, don't miss Moody Gardens Ice Land: Ice Sculptures, Open Daily, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. & Christmas Day 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. Moody Gardens is a definite "must do" during the holiday season.
Magical Winter Lights Houston at Gulf Greyhound Park, Open Daily through Jan. 6, 5 to 10 p.m. Sun-Thu and 5 to 11 p.m. Fri-Sat, 1000 FM 2004 in LaMarque. The Festival features Chinese lanterns and holiday lights over 20 acres. Themes include Magical Wonderland, Mystical Forest, The Lone Star State, Santa's Christmas Village, Mystery of the East and Landmarks of the World.
