Tips for creating a wedding with a nautical vibe

About 1 year(s) ago by Jennifer Rutledge
Nautical-Wedding-Decor Many couples come to Galveston every year in search of that perfect beach wedding. One of the major decisions a couple must make, is what the theme or vibe of the wedding is going to be. With a wedding on an island, it can be difficult to find the balance between coastal chic, and coastal cheesy. A major trend that has taken over the wedding industry, is the Nautical vibe.
Colors: With hues of Navy and Gold mixed with subtle anchor and ship décor, this theme can transform a room into a seaside wedding paradise. Another great choice is a coral pallet with hints of tan and cream. These colors can tie in a beautiful coastal vibe without going overboard.
Décor, Decor, Décor: Instead of using sand and seashells galore on your tables, Use instead a single sand dollar with votive candles as a center piece. Another trend that we are starting to see is sending guests away with a little piece of paradise at the end of the reception. This can be done by simply tying a sweet note to a starfish or sand dollar. Your guests will love that they can take something back with them that reminds them of your special day.
What’s for Dinner?: When picking food for your wedding. Make sure your food choice matches the tone and atmosphere of the wedding. With a coastal vibe, a great choice would be a citrus season fish or even a light chicken breast dinner with a tropical fruit and cheese display. Having a seafood display for guests to enjoy will be sure to impress your guest and leave them full and happy!
Choosing a Venue: One of Galveston’s well known choices for seaside weddings is Hotel Galvez & Spa. With three gorgeous outside venue spaces, the Galvez gives couples the seaside wedding of their dreams, without having to deal with the hassle of sand and tourists. The hotel also offers indoor space that has great views of the Gulf. The Terrace Ballroom and Veranda have beautiful floor to ceiling windows and can fit up to 250 people. On the other side of the hotel, the Music Hall can also fit up to 250 people with views of Centennial Green as well as the Gulf of Mexico!
If you are looking for a sophisticated meets coastal vibe located downtown, make sure to check out The Tremont House! The Tremont Ballroom can fit up to 400 people and the beautiful Sam Houston Ballroom fits up to 120 people.
