Galveston Beach Band Summer Band Concerts
Since the 1920s, a band composed of area musicians called the Galveston Beach Band have performed big band music and other popular show tunes on Tuesdays in the summer beginning in June through August. Concerts are held at the Sealy Gazebo, 2300 Sealy, beginning at 7:30 p.m. and end at about 9 p.m. Concerts are free and seating is provided. This summer concert series is family friendly and always ends with a children’s American flag parade to the tune of Mickey Mouse Club theme song. You’ll love it. It’s classic Galveston fun.

Movie Nite on The Strand
Movie Nite on The Strand began in 2008 as a way to drive traffic to downtown Galveston businesses in the evening. And, it’s been a hit. Movies are scheduled on the first Saturday of the month from March through October at Saengerfest Park, 2302 Strand. Movie goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, snacks and beverages and enjoy this free outdoor movie showing. Movies air just shortly after sunset but crowds arrive early to save their spot. Nearby restaurants offer take-out for this free Galveston outing.

Approximately every six weeks all the Galveston art galleries host ArtWalk. Galleries open up for “an evening of the arts” from 6 to 9 p.m. Art goers are invited to browse galleries and “other walls” or businesses during this evening out on the town. For locals the event is like a little town reunion and for visitors it’s an opportunity to explore Galveston’s beautiful historic downtown. Galveston hotel, The Tremont House, always hosts an exhibit and provides a good stop between galleries as well as a place to enjoy a more serious cocktail. Don’t forget to end your evening at the hotel’s Rooftop Bar which is open until midnight on Saturdays (weather permitting).
