Galveston is not only tourist friendly, but dog friendly too. Many places here on the island welcome your furry friend with open arms.
Dog Friendly Parks:
From dog friendly Lindale Park, 4th and Marine Street, and Kempner Park, 2704 Avenue O, to the various outdoor dining areas in and around downtown, you can have a great getaway with your dog. Plus, Galveston’s 32 miles of sandy beaches is ideal for taking a walk or run with your pet and is a great way to start or end the day. Please do not forget to bring a disposable doggy bag for your pet’s potty breaks!
One of the more popular spots for pet friendly entertainment is Tola Mo' Better Market, 2208 Strand. Anytime of the day, you can find man’s best friend relaxing and enjoying a nice day outside of the market while people watching on The Strand. After cooling off with a beverage, take a nice walk and explore the downtown area and Pier 21.
Olympia Grill at Pier 21 offers outdoor dining for you and Fido as well. With a Mediterranean menu, you can enjoy a refreshing meal while taking in the views of Galveston.
Yagas Café, 2314 Strand, offers a great spot to grab lunch on their outdoor patio on a nice day. Man’s best friend will love the idea of dining beside you while you enjoy Yaga’s fresh crisp salad. Or further down the street, stop at Stuttgarden Tavern, 2110 Strand, for some German food and craft beer and enjoy the outdoor seating and people watching.
If you prefer the charm of Postoffice Street, you’ll find several pet friendly options with outdoor seating including MOD Coffee, 2126 Postoffice; ZaZa Bites, 2219 Postoffice; Taquilo’s Tex-Mex Cantina, 2101 Postoffice; Sky Bar, 2107 Postoffice, and Little Daddy’s Gumbo Bar, 2107 Postoffice.
Don’t forget to stop by Starbucks, 102 Kempner, to pick up a “puppy whip” from your favorite baristas to end your day long doggy adventure!
Hotel Galvez & Spa and The Tremont House welcome you and your pooch as long as they are 25 pounds or less. A $100 non-refundable pet fee is required. Please see the hotels’ pet policy for details.
