Galveston's Grand 1894 Opera House 2018-2019 Season
Did you know that Galveston is home to “The Official Opera House of Texas”? The Grand received this designation by the 73rd Texas Legislature in 1993. This restored theatre is one of the few remaining theatres of its era in Texas and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It’s one of those amazing gems that can only be found in Galveston.

If you haven’t had the opportunity, check out the line-up for the 2018-2019 Season. You’ll see names like Wynonna & The Big Noise (Sept. 29), Aida Cuevas (Oct. 13), Cellist Gabriel Royal (Nov. 10), Asleep at the Wheel (Nov. 24), The Priests (Nov. 25), Wynton Marsalis (Dec. 2), The Oak Ridge Boys (Jan. 19), Rob Landes Trio (March 24), and Pink Martini (April 12).

Other shows include The Choir of Men (Oct. 6), Phantom of the Opera – Silent Film with Rob Landes at the organ (Oct. 26), The DooWop Project (Oct. 28), A Christmas Carol (Nov. 30-Dec. 1), All is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914 (Dec. 9), A Charlie Brown Christmas Live on Stage (Dec. 23), The Other Mozart (Jan. 12), SOMETHING ROTTEN! (Jan. 26), Jersey Boys (Feb. 3), Neil Berg’s 50 Years of Rock and Roll (Feb. 16), Celtic Nights: Oceans of Hope (March 9), Monty Python’s Spamalot (April 27), and Kinky Boots (June 13).

Six reasons to see a show at The Grand 1894 Opera House:
1) No seat is further than 70 feet from the stage.
2) The acoustics in this 1894 theatre are amazing.
3) The close proximity to the stage allows you to see the facial expressions of the entertainers without binoculars.
4) Even the seats that are considered “obstructed” view, making them less expensive, are good.
5) You can purchase an adult beverage in one of their “sippy cups” and bring it in the theatre.
6) You might actually run into the performers in downtown Galveston at one of the area restaurants or shopping.

Make it a weekend getaway and book your tickets at www.thegrand.com. We promise that you’ll love it.
