A Galveston Holiday Bucket List

First, kick-off the holiday season at the Hotel Galvez Tree Lighting Celebration. Live entertainment and a visit from Santa will accompany the lighting of a 35-foot tree. Next, head over to Moody Gardens for this season's annual Festival of Lights, Iceland, and the Cirque Joyeux dinner and show.

Next, experience the magic of 36 blocks of lights at Saengerfest Park and downtown with Downtown Lasers & Lights, and explore five of Galveston’s most elegant homes, all dressed up for the season, at the East End Historical District Holiday Homes Tour. Dickens on the Strand offers a trip back in time when historic Strand Street will feature strolling carolers and entertainers dressed in the style of Victorian London. Lovers of nature and avian life won’t want to miss Holiday with the Cranes, a celebration of the annual return of the resplendent Sandhill Cranes.

And, no bucket list would be complete if it didn’t include a stay at one of Galveston’s finer hotels. For stunning harbor views near Pier 21, check into the Harbor House Hotel & Marina. If your holiday wish list includes a stay at the beach, make your reservations at Hotel Galvez & Spa, and be sure to check out their fabulous Sunday brunch. Want to stay in the historic Strand District? Enjoy deluxe accommodations at The Tremont House, where you’ll find one of the best views of downtown from their Rooftop Terrace Bar.
