A Historic Tradition: The Grand 1894 Opera House
Featuring everything from symphony concerts to Broadway musicals, The Grand offers a cultural cornucopia for all. The upcoming season doesn’t disappoint and will showcase such performers as former Miss North Carolina Jeanne Robertson and her Rocking Humor tour happening June 28 and 29, and musical poets Robert Earl Keen and the "new voice of Appalachia" Tyler Childers on July 5.
On July 12 – 14, get ready for a rollicking comedy-dance fest as Menopause, the Musical takes the stage. This uproarious parody features favorite tunes from the '60s, '70s, and '80s, along with hot flashes, night sweats, and a black lace bra! And, keep the laughter going on August 10 as co-author, co-star, and producer of the four award-winning Greater Tuna series Jaston Williams returns with Don't Blame the Car! William’s tales of learning to drive, self-injuring baton twirlers, and his animosity toward potatoes will leave you in stitches!
After the show, pop in for a libation at The Rooftop Bar. Open daily, this popular gathering spot is located in the Strand District atop The Tremont House. The following day, enjoy a delectable Sunday Brunch at the historic the Hotel Galvez & Spa, and for breathtaking views of the harbor, check in at the Harbor House Hotel & Marina at Pier 21.
