Come Carnival with Us

Since our inaugural Mardi Gras parade in 1871, the festivities have grown every year in scope and style to become the town’s ultimate winter carnival celebration, as well as the third-largest Mardi Gras celebration in the nation. Like its forbears, the upcoming 109th Galveston Mardi Gras held February 14 through February 25 is sure to be one epic event; featuring hundreds of thousands of revelers, millions of beads, elegant balls, slews of Krewes, and dozens of parades, balcony parties, and concerts. From the beachfront to downtown, it’s always one rocking party. Check out the list below for a mere sample of the many scheduled events.

  • The main events of Mardi Gras! Galveston will kick-off on February 14, including the Galveston Pride Balcony Party, the Mardi Gras! Headquarters Balcony Party, the Aquarius "Barn Bash" 2020, the Krewe of Thalasar's Roaring 20's Mardi Gras Ball, and much more.
  • A multitude of parades will once again include the ever-popular Zaniest Golf Cart Parade, the Party Gras! Procession, and the Funky Uptown Umbrella Brigade, along with the King’s Court and Queen’s Court Balcony Parties.
  • The Jolly Jester Jaunt 5K runners and walkers will make four loops around the inside of the Entertainment District on Saturday, February 15 for an entertaining 5K experience.
  • The second annual Fiesta Gras continues a celebration of Hispanic heritage and culture with a balcony party on February 16 and 24, with a lineup of two colorful parades, additional live entertainment, and vendors offering food, novelties, and more.

For special rates on accommodations during Mardi Gras, check out downtown Galveston’s luxurious Tremont House, the Harbor House Hotel & Marina at Pier 21 for harbor views and access to Pier 21, or the beachfront opulence of Hotel Galvez & Spa.
