February Winter Fun in Galveston

The winter cold can linger into February or sometimes even March and April in cities all across the U.S. However, if you find yourself in Galveston this time of year, a lot of folks would be jealous! With only about four days of rain out of the month, sunny skies, and weather averaging in the 60s, you’re going to want to be outside as much as possible!

Savasana by the Shore
Pack a beach bag with some blankets and put on your comfiest fitness attire. Vacationing by the beach can be a perfect time to get in tune with your mind, body, and soul. Every Monday in Galveston, whether you're traveling alone or with a group, head to Murdoch’s by 6 pm where The Phoenix will be waiting; a dedicated group working to promote living an active and sober life. Head down to the shore for Sunset Yoga & Meditation; breathe in the seaside air, exhale the stress of traveling.

Galveston's Own Farmers Market
Founded in 2012, the Galveston's Own Farmers Market is a non-profit bringing the community together in hopes of building and sustaining a local food community, with emphasis on school gardens, food access initiatives, and educational programming. Every Sunday from 9 am-1 pm, you can stroll past vendors near 28th & Market. Indulge in scrumptious food from Cookies by Blondie and Pecans by Karen to a tasty mushroom and egg dish at Mushroom Factory or a meal powered by greens at Grow4Health. From now until Feb 13, GOFM will be hosting Free Health Screenings & Diet Counseling. This event includes health stats like height, weight, glucose checks, blood pressure reading, and body mass index.

Harborside Rides
Traveling with kids? The perfect weather this time of year makes for a fun and clear train ride in an open-aired caboose, The Harborside Express at the Galveston Railroad Museum . This 15-minute ride shows you around Port of Galveston, then you’ll pass by grain elevators and the old Falstaff Brewery that has been recently renamed as The Tasting Room. Plan accordingly, as these rides only go out Saturday & Sundays, from 11 am- 1:40 pm with the last ticket sold for the 1:30 pm ride.
