Five Must-Do Holiday Events

Moody Gardens Festival of Lights and Ice Land

Stroll through a mile-long trail featuring millions of lights and lighted tableaux, glide around an outdoor skating rink, and slide down a giant carved ice slide at Rainforest Holiday’s “Christmas Around the World.”

Downtown Lasers & Lights

Every year, historic downtown Galveston gleams a little brighter for the holiday season. Downtown Lasers & Lights features a magical display of lights and other holiday-themed attractions in Saengerfest Park and beyond including a giant snow globe for visitors to enjoy weekends. Lights are throughout downtown from 20th to 25th streets on The Strand as well as along 23rd and Postoffice streets. New this year is a weekly 4-hour laser light show projected on the American National Insurance Company Building from 6 to 10 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays beginning Nov. 22 through Dec. 22. Tip: The Rooftop Bar at The Tremont House offers prime viewing of the weekend laser show. In addition, get all your holiday shopping done at the district’s many gift shops, boutiques, art galleries and antique shops set among beautiful Victorian architecture.

Holiday with the Cranes

The sight of these stunning Sandhill Cranes provides a holiday gift like no other. In addition to the viewings, a variety of informative and entertaining activities are also available.

The Grand 1894 Opera House

With an array of holiday-themed shows and attractions, the Grand will celebrate the season through January 12, 2020. This magnificent setting is the ideal setting for performances by such featured favorites as the Vienna Boys Choir and the City Ballet of Houston.

Dickens on The Strand

Stroll the streets of 19th century London during this three-day holiday festival, and enjoy the costumed carolers, street performers, food and drinks vendors, and more. Don’t miss the Victorian Bed Races!
