Haunted Happenings

Galveston Island is widely known for its ghosts. And, as a bonus, during the month of October ghost tours and haunted happenings are stepped up. Here is a list of haunted happenings you can only enjoy in October in Galveston.

• Tuesdays through Fridays, Ghost Tour and Dinner at Hotel Galvez. Take a 1 1/2 hour ghost tour followed by a three-course dinner at this haunted hotel. Friday’s tour is only available as part of an overnight package. For reservations, call (409) 765-7721. While this ghost tour and dinner is available monthly, it is only available Fridays and additional weekdays in October. Book early!
• Oct. 5, Movie Night on The Strand featuring “Goosebumps.” Movies are shown at dusk at Saengerfest Park.
• Daily, Ghostly Lantern Tour led by Lantern Light Tours of Galveston. Tours begin at 7:30 p.m.
• Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday, 1900 Storm Stories led by Lantern Light Tours of Galveston. Tours begin at 5 p.m.
• Oct. 12, Galveston Historic District Wide Ghost Hunt led by Lantern Light Tours of Galveston. Bring your ghost hunting devices for this ghost hunt which begins at 11 p.m.
• Oct. 19, Haunted Mayfield Manor Investigation led by Lantern Light Tours of Galveston. The investigation begins at 11:30 p.m.
• Oct. 25, Galveston Vampire Pageant. The Pageant is produced by Lantern Light Tours of Galveston.
• Offered Daily, The Original Ghost Tour on The Strand, Restless Spirits Tour and Secret Society Cemetery Tour led by Ghost Tours of Galveston.
• Oct. 24, 25 & 26, Lanternlight Tour of the 1892 Bishop’s Palace. This historic mansion is amazing in the day so I can’t imagine what it’s like in the evenings. Tours begin at 7 and 7:30 p.m.
• Oct. 19, 24, 25, 26 & 30, Ghost Tours of the 1859 Ashton Villa. This is a real treat as this home is usually not open for public tours. Tours begin at 7 and 8:15 p.m.
• Oct. 12, 19 & 26, Haunted Sunset Tours Aboard the Seagull II. Guests enjoy a narrated exploration of Galveston’s historic bay its haunted history beginning at 5:30 p.m.
• Oct. 25, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde – Silent film with Rob Landes at the organ at The Grand 1894 Opera House. The movie begins at 8 p.m.
• Oct. 25 & 26, Costumes and Cocktails at the Toujouse Bar at The Tremont House. Wear your best Halloween garb between 6 and 10 p.m. as we bring a touch of Halloween to The Tremont House. As part of the fun, enjoy live jazz by Trio du Jour and complimentary treats.
• Oct. 26, Ninth Annual Mini Monster Bash at Saengerfest Park. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. enjoy family friendly Halloween fun at Saengerfest Park.
• Oct. 31, Trick or Treating at the Michel Menard House from 5 to 7 p.m.

Other suggestions:
Haunted Mayfield Manor… This year-round haunted house is truly haunted.

Now, that you’ve planned out your Halloween fun make sure to book your hotel.
