New Year, Same Great Galveston Events

A winter trip to Galveston is one for the books; pack your bathing suits and flip flops- it’s warm out! A January vacation to our coast means one thing; it’s time to purchase those online tickets to Yaga’s Annual Chili Quest & Beer Fest.

January 14th and 15th are going to be busy days at The Historic Strand District intersection of 23rd Street and Strand Street. Sponsored by Mitchell Historic Properties, the 13th Annual Yaga's Chili Quest & Beer Fest is back with a full itinerary! The weekend will start with a Chief Cook's Meeting about chili that Friday night, but the real fun begins Saturday. Start the day bright and early pre-gaming for the Beerfooter 5k Fun Run, with ticket purchases including 1 free beer at Early Packet Pickup/Runner’s Happy Hour at Beerfoot Brewery and then to reward you for getting to the end, enjoy another 2 free beers. Putting together your wildest & wackiest outfit is highly encouraged (the crazier the better.) Public Chili sampling starts at noon, offering several beer fest & chili tasting packages available online, as well as a full schedule. Hanging out at Saengerfest Park is also included in your ticket, where the Patron Jackpot Margarita Contest will take place right before some live music and public beer tasting at 1 p.m. The festival ends at 6 pm, so make sure to stick around for the official award ceremony at 4:30. Make sure to check out some sleep accommodations online for your stay, and tickets are highly encouraged to be purchased NOW; for the last 7 years they have sold out before the event.
