The Best Spots for Holiday Snaps

First, scope out the holiday decorations at Saengerfest Park, 23rd & Strand. The 37-foot Christmas tree and life-size snow globe is part of Downtown Lasers & Lights. If you are in town during the weekend, catch the laser light show projected on the American National Insurance Company building, every Friday through Sunday from 6 to 10 p.m. This will likely merit a LIVE video on Facebook and Instagram.

While downtown, make your way to The Tremont House for their Gingerbread Polar Express Makes a Stop at The Tremont House display. In honor of THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride at the Galveston Railroad Museum, the hotel created a special “Polar Express” themed gingerbread house. You’ll have to see it to believe it.

Another gingerbread display to add to your list is The Night Before Christmas Gingerbread Village at Hotel Galvez & Spa. This famous poem is recreated in gingerbread for guests to enjoy.

The most visual experience you’ll have during this holiday season is at Moody Gardens. Their Festival of Lights and Iceland: Christmas Around the World offers tons of Instagram worthy shots.

Keep in mind, the Galveston Island Convention & Visitors Bureau is hosting a holiday “scavenger hunt.” Visitors are encouraged to talk selfies or #GalvestonElfies in various locations on the island for prizes. Visit their website for details.

Enjoy deluxe accommodations while in Galveston with a stay at the following hotels. For stunning harbor views near Pier 21, check into the Harbor House Hotel & Marina. Marvelous beachfront rooms can be booked at Hotel Galvez & Spa, and be sure to check out their fabulous Sunday brunch. Want to stay in the historic Strand District? We suggest The Tremont House, where you’ll find one of the best views of downtown from their Rooftop Terrace Bar.
