The Holidays Are Back: Downtown Edition

If you find yourself traveling to Galveston this holiday season and may have forgotten a gift or two, a trip downtown will surely make up for it. Made of four main districts, The Strand is home to the most excitement for visitors, with gift shops, boutiques, dining, and events.

If you’re looking for antiques and more of an artsy feel, Postoffice is your district. This area is the original home to ArtWalk held every six weeks. However, with independent galleries on the Strand, along with the Galveston Art Center, locals and visitors now migrate between these districts when ArtWalk rolls around.

Finally, be sure to check out the museums and restaurants at Pier 21, and head to the West End Market Area to enjoy a cocktail!

Aside from the shopping and dining, Downtown Galveston lights up each year with Holiday Lights that silhouette the historic buildings. Enjoy the 30-feet-tall Christmas tree at Saengerfest Park, where the festivities all begin during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
