Things To Do With Dad In Galveston For Father's Day Weekend
Father’s Day weekend is less than a month away, and Galveston is heating up with plenty of dad-approved attractions. So put away the tie and the #1 Dad mug for another day and start planning a Texas-sized weekend adventure he’ll cherish for years to come. Here are a few suggestions to get you started:
1. Book your hotel room! Mom—this is probably your area so surprise dad with the perfect accommodations to kick back and relax., Our favorite choice for accommodations is the Harbor House Hotel & Marina at Pier 21 with harbor views and close proximity to the Strand Historic District.
2. Our coastal city is chock-full of delicious seafood restaurants that will have him hooked by the first bite. Book a reservation at Willie G’s Seafood and Steaks at Pier 21 for incredible cocktails and fresh seafood.
3. Nature-loving dads can spend all day at the Galveston Island State Park where they can go fishing, hiking, and even brush up on their landscape photography at this 2,000+ acre reserve that comprises beach, prairie, and bay.
4. Seawolf Park on Pelican Island is a must-visit for dads who are avid anglers. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, find a place on the pier, and spend hours reeling in red drum, black drum, and summer flounder. You can also take a tour of a WWII submarine the USS Cavalla and one of only three destroyer escorts in the world, the USS Stewart.
5. If dad is a history buff, take him to The Bryan Museum, home to the largest collection of historical artifacts, documents, and art related to the Southwestern United States. And just around the corner from the Harbor House Hotel & Marina is Texas Seaport Museum at Pier 21, home to the 1877 Tall Ship ELISSA where tours are offered daily.
